How to Disable Vibration and Light Sensors on Your Simtek StealthALERT sensor

Note: This guide applies to sensors purchased in 2023 and later.

Are you here to learn how to disable vibration or light sensor? Read on. If you're wondering how to turn off the sensor generally, you simply pull the battery.

Your Simtek Sensor comes equipped with built-in Passive Infrared Motion, Light, and Vibration sensors. There may be circumstances when you want to turn off one or more of these sensors. This guide will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to disable the vibration and light sensors on your Simtek Sensor.

Instructions:

  1. Safety First: Remove the Battery: Before making any changes to your Simtek Sensor, ensure the battery is removed. This step is crucial to prevent accidental activation or damage during the process.

  2. Unscrew Three Screws: Locate the three screws on the bottom half of the plastic case. Use a screwdriver to carefully unscrew them. Keep the screws in a secure place for later reassembly.

  3. Remove the Top Plastic Case: Once the screws are removed, gently lift and remove the top plastic case. Refer to any available photos or diagrams provided with your Simtek Sensor for visual guidance on the removal process.

  4. Switch OFF the Vibration and/or LIGHT Sensor: With the top plastic case removed, you will have access to the internal components of the Simtek Sensor. Locate the VIBRATION sensor and/or LIGHT sensor, depending on your specific needs. Look for a switch or toggle associated with each sensor. The light sensor switch is next to the vibration switch, and a little hidden and hard to reach. Use a ruler or something similar and small to reach the light sensor switch. Toggle the switch to the "OFF" position to disable the respective sensor. Do not touch anything else.simtek sensor with vibration switch shown

  5. Replace Top Cover and Screws: Once you have disabled the vibration and/or light sensors, carefully place the top plastic case back onto the Simtek Sensor. Align it properly to ensure a secure fit. Then, using the screws you previously removed, gently tighten them to secure the top cover. Be cautious not to over-tighten, as it may damage the plastic casing or strip the screw housing. A torque of 3lb maximum is recommended.

  6. Insert the Battery After securing the top cover, reinsert the battery into its designated slot. Ensure that the battery is correctly aligned and firmly inserted.

Congratulations! You have successfully disabled the vibration and/or light sensors on your Simtek Sensor. Please note that by disabling these sensors, certain features and functionalities related to vibration and light detection may be unavailable. If you ever wish to enable them again, simply follow the same steps, switching the sensors back to the "ON" position.
